Certifications & registrations

Audited by people who are not us.

Each of these means an outside body — including unannounced auditors, in one case — comes and checks that what we say happens actually happens. Certified scopes are set out below; certificates go to customers on request.

R2v3 — Sustainable Electronics Reuse & Recycling Standard, Version 3

R2v3 governs the reuse hierarchy, downstream due diligence, data sanitization and materials management. Certificate authenticity can be verified directly in the public R2 directory.

Issuing bodySERI
Certified scopeDownstream Vendor Management, Logical and Physical Data Sanitization, Testing and Materials Recovery of computers and electronic equipment. Audited to Appendix A (Downstream Recycling Chain), Appendix B (Data Sanitization), Appendix C (Test and Repair — Test Only) and Appendix E (Materials Recovery).

NAID AAA Certification — Information Destruction

NAID AAA covers physical and digital sanitization, chain of custody and personnel screening, verified through announced and unannounced audits. It is written to satisfy data-controller vendor selection requirements under HIPAA, GLBA, FACTA and GDPR.

Issuing bodyi-SIGMA
Certified scopeFacility-based Operation Endorsement for Hard Drive Overwriting, Solid-State Device Overwriting, and Physical Hard Drive & Solid-State Device Destruction, at 616 111th Street, Arlington, TX.

ISO 9001:2015 — Quality Management Systems

A documented, externally audited quality system — the framework customers operating under AS9100 and similar supplier-control regimes already recognise.

Issuing bodyAmtivo (USA) Inc.
Certified scopeElectronics recycling including collection, logical and physical data sanitization, testing and dismantling of used electronic equipment and components.

ISO 14001:2015 — Environmental Management Systems

Underpins diversion and environmental reporting, and is the credential sustainability and EHS stakeholders ask for.

Issuing bodyAmtivo (USA) Inc.
Certified scopeElectronics recycling including collection, logical and physical data sanitization, testing and dismantling of used electronic equipment and components.

ISO 45001:2018 — Occupational Health & Safety Management

Matters most for on-site work, where customers pre-qualify contractors on safety management before anything else.

Issuing bodyAmtivo (USA) Inc.
Certified scopeElectronics recycling including collection, logical and physical data sanitization, testing and dismantling of used electronic equipment and components.

ITAR — Registered Broker, US Directorate of Defense Trade Controls

Relevant to customers in the defense supply chain. Specific brokering activities are discussed and authorised case by case rather than under a blanket permission.

Issuing bodyUS Department of State, DDTC
Certified scopeBroker registration under the Arms Export Control Act and ITAR Part 129, with the recordkeeping and compliance obligations that carries.

Need the certificates themselves? Certificate copies, scope statements and registrar contact details go to customers and prospective customers on request — usually the same business day. Email us or use theprocurement page.

Standards we work to

These are not certifications — they are the standards and frameworks our procedures are written against. Any vendor claiming to be "certified" in one of them is telling you something about their precision.

NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 2

Media sanitization methodology — Clear, Purge and Destroy, applied per media type and documented per asset.

R2v3 Downstream Due Diligence

Verified and documented downstream vendors, so final disposition can be traced beyond our own gate.

TCEQ

Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements for industrial waste and used oil handling.

DOT

Compliant transport of oils, batteries and other regulated materials.

A note on scope. Certificates are issued against a defined scope, and the exact wording of ours appears above. We handle a great deal of material beyond that wording — and we would rather show you precisely what each certificate covers than imply a blanket it does not have.

Insurance certificates, W-9, safety documentation, references and completed supplier questionnaires all live on our procurement page.

Questions about our certifications

Can we get certificate copies for our vendor file?

Yes. Certificates, scope statements and registrar details go out to customers and prospective customers on request — email us and we will send them the same business day. We do not publish them for open download.

What is the difference between R2v3 and NAID AAA?

R2v3 governs responsible recycling — the reuse hierarchy, downstream due diligence, environmental and health-and-safety practices, and materials management. NAID AAA governs information destruction specifically: how data is destroyed, how custody is documented, how personnel are screened, enforced through announced and unannounced audits. They cover different risks, which is why we hold both.

Is NIST SP 800-88 a certification?

No — it is a methodology standard published by NIST defining three sanitization categories: Clear, Purge and Destroy. Nobody is "NIST 800-88 certified." What a vendor can legitimately say is that their processes follow it and that they select the appropriate category per media type. We do, and we document which method was applied to each device.

How can we independently verify your certifications?

R2 certification is listed in the public R2 directory maintained by SERI, which shows the current status of every certified facility. For the others, ask us and we will put you in touch with the registrar directly.

What does your ITAR registration cover?

TDR Recycle is registered with the US Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls as a broker under ITAR Part 129, with the recordkeeping and compliance obligations that carries. Registration is a precondition for brokering approvals rather than a blanket authorisation, so specific activities are discussed case by case.

Need documentation for a vendor file or an RFP?

Certificates, insurance certificates, W-9, scope statements and references — sent on request, usually the same business day.
